General discussion

Bluetooth listener (HSP)

Mar 31, 2009 12:07PM PDT

So I want to record a conversation and I have a plantronics p590 headset that works well with everything, and I want to have my desktop record the conversation for proof/references... Any good software ideas? I'm tempted to build my own cheap one use whatever but I've been really busy so I thought I'd see what the forums would sugest...

Destop runs vista_X64 and fedora10_X64 (has class 2 bluetooth dongle).

Your specification is lacking.

If I read your post you don't want to eavesdrop but "have my desktop record the conversation for proof/references."

Not a word about the headset is in use by something else at the time.

Links to use a headset with AUDACITY -> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=AUDACITY+BLUETOOTH+RECORDING

And I will not answer again if there is any hint you want to connect it to a cell phone and record that. Why? Even that I won't answer.

Sry, bout that, thanks for replying in the first place I am conecting my headset to a cellphone (HSP) and I want the software to listen to the active conversation between the two devices and re-encode the audio to mp3/wav/ogg/... format for evalutation... To be honest it's for the simple purpose of quoting warenty services peoples... My laptop has been falling apart (literally) since I bought it. It's only three months old and has had the HDD case fall off AC connection bust out and the alt key fall off within normal use (just from typing)... It's a toshiba and I haven't delt with there warenty peoples. However if the other warenty peoples I've had to deal with are any indecation of how they'll treat me, I would like to beable to quote and prove that they are lieing after I catch it. and mostlikly upload the conversations to the web for all to here... (DON'T JUDGE)

Funny....a good gotcha...

Nice gag.

BTW: There are those of us who are trying to get our hands-free devices to interface to our PC. A bluetooth scanner or "listener" would be good for such development. I bought a retro phone handset w/bluetooth and it works wonderfully with my phone, but I thought it would be good if I could get it to work with my computer and Skype, no such luck on the drivers.

Any *REAL* info would be nice.

Tipping my hand.

I'm writing an application that uses bluetooth so I do know a bit about this. The problem is the cost. There are developer tools but these hit about 25 to more kbucks.

Let's get back to reality. Simple microphones and cables work for much less bucks.

Skype and bluetooth audio devices have open discussions so I won't tackle that here.
