But here's the issue. Such will take coding and workarounds if your cameras don't offer this today. As to your controlling app, if it's on some PC there are many PC remote control apps out there. I will defer discussing any specific app like gotomypc, VNC and such.
I think you only need something like gotomypc for your phone or tablet.
Hey guys - First post around here, please be gentle.
I have a question that is, in a peripheral way, related to home security.
I have several cameras that I use in a diy-nanny-cam fashion (I live in an apartment building with a surprising amount of management foot-traffic). Most of them have a wifi capability that I can operate from a phone or computer, but the two devices need to be on the same network. Here's my question -
Is it possible to have any configuration wherein I can operate the app that runs the device remotely?
E.G. - The device is plugged in and turned on (so as to have constant power and battery life becomes a nonissue), the application that runs that device is on an active computer. I want to log in with my mobile device or other computer and activate/check the status. How would I do this?
Conversely (and I don't know if this one is even possible). I have a controlling device on my phone (think GoPro) and the camera at home. The camera actively pitches a bluetooth/wifi signal and I have an active wireless network at home. Is it possible to use my phone to access my wireless network (at range), then use the controlling app that way?
I hope I'm asking this correctly. I think what I want is for my wifi network to act as a bridge and to be able to access my wifi network with my phone or tablet.
Make any sense? Anyone have ideas?
