Hi,
I've had win98se earlier, and then I regrettably installed win2000 on the very same partition as win98se. This was the beginning of my nightmare.
Then I had the choice of selecting OS at dualboot, but when w2k was selected I was promted with a filesystem check of c:\ telling me that the filesystem was FAT32 and that C:\ was checked for consistency. Why?
Anyway I sorted it out by removing the win98se boot option from boot.ini and deleted the entire "c:\Windows" folder containing win98 system files (read this at a microsoft page)). After having only win200 and not win98 anymore, I converted from Fat32 to NTFS. This resulted in no more problems at boot-time, however when trying to shut down my computer I got a bluescreen error stating that "ntkrnl.exe" something hexadecimal... and starting dump of physical memory. Then the PC rebootet, And I was not able to turn it off. Therefore I turned off the "reboot at system failure"-option in windows. This leads to the same bluescreen error message when I try to reboot or shut down. Since it then no longer reboots I now just turn off my PC at the I/O (power)button at the front of my PC when the bluescreen nightmare appears... ![]()
Have thought of repairing win2000 from cd, but is this helpfull?
Anyone? I'd realy appreciate it if someone could help me out of this mess. Thanks!
