Jan 3rd I allowed my Blue ray to upgrade to the latest firmware from the early Dec release to Dec 31 version. As soon as I went to Netflix it went to pot. The system would work for a short bit (say 1 -2 mins) then the screen would go black and after 30 seconds it would come back further down the movie. I suspected at bad download so I went to Samsung site and got a copy for USB upgrade. Did the upgrade and same thing. Checked all the settings, then gave up and downgraded to the Nov release I had on CD. The unit now works although not as well as it did with the early Dec release (Should have keep a copy).
I left an email Sat night with Samsung support detailing the problem. Today (Monday) I contacted them, the chat level could give me no help, I called level 2 support they talked and moved me up to next level.
That person said I was first complaint they had (Must not have read my Sat email yet) and said they destroy old firmware releases and could not get back to previous version. I work in software, and my clients would kill me for having no rollback plan in place!
My thoughts are: 1 )don?t upgrade to the 2.3 release unless you have a backup of 2.2 or 2.1!!!! 2.) If anybody out there has a 2.2 (Early Dec ) copy of firmware they might share with me I would be grateful. 3.) I don?t know what the QC level of Samsung team is but am sure it is not CMI-3 or better, a real confidence shaker.
