Question

Blue vertical bar 6 inches in the middle of TV

I have a Samsung LN52A580P6FXZA TV bought 3.5 years ago. Recently a 6 inches blue vertical bar shows up in the middle of the TV. It is there even with the blue ray player. Called Samsung support but they couldn't help me because it is out of warranty. Anyone know the problem and how to fix it? Thanks.

Hey cdjfong,

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. While I get the general impression from your post that you want help figuring out how to self repair, I figured I'd offer to setup service with an authorized service center, if you'd like for me to. Here's the thread where you can get details on contacting us: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-542437/service-issues-click-here-for-help/

RE. High cost to repair

Dear HD Tech,

Thanks, I already got the authorized service centers from Samsung Support. I have contacted two of them, both said the panel need to be replaced. One quoted $1,200 and the other $1,000 + labor. Looks like I have to buy another TV. It won't be a Samsung for sure, this one cost me about $500 per year.
