by B.J.SWYERS / July 11, 2005 1:33 AM PDT

I am getting a blue screen when I go to start and shut down. The blue screen tells me a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Driver_Power_State_failure. At the bottom of the screen I get this set of numbers.

Thanks,

at a site that troubleshoots Stop messages;

"0x0000009F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article.)
A driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state. Typically occurs during events that involve power state transitions, such as shutting down, or moving into or out of standby or hibernate mode."

CNET doesn't give out email addresses of senders when a person sends an email to a forum member, so I couldn't reply to you.

I'm not sure what you meant in your email when you said; ''My laptop shuts down when I get to about 45% OX9F downloaded''.

Did you try the link I gave and did you find the other links with more information under the Stop error code 09F?

If you were unable to, I include the links below for you;

Microsoft Resources link

Troubleshooting Stop 0x9F in Windows-article 1

Troubleshooting Stop 0x9F in Windows-article 2

Computer hangs during shutdown

Computer hangs during shutdown (Windows 2000)

I added the last one in case there were any similarities.

Good luck, I hope one of these helps.

spyware/defrag

You might want to check your computer to see if it's been infected with a spyware or a virus. Have you defragged your drive lately? Regular disk cleanup and defrag will help optimize windows.

Meet the drop-resistant Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering.
