1. Read each article at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=+site:support.microsoft.com+STOP+0X000000D1 and make sure you don't have those issues.
2. HP has some updates to BIOS, drivers and more but your post doesn't reveal if it's all up to date plus no story why this wasn't HP's problem to fix.

I have a zd8000 notebook, and for the past year I have been getting this blue screen with writing and then the computer restarts. It happens only when I put a cd with pictures in the laptop and I open one of the folders.
