Blue screen appears when I try to watch episodes on CBS.com

Jun 2, 2019 1:45AM PDT

Last night while I was on CBS.com wanting to watch last Tuesday's episode of NCIS because I missed it; as soon as the episode started to play my laptop's screen turned blue and a message appeared.

How can I make the message go away so I can watch programming on CBS.com? It's not doing this on YouTube or other platforms which display video content; it's only happening on CBS.com. Details of the blue screen message are listed below:

- Most often that seems to be a hardware issue. Can you reproduce it or was it a one-time fluke?
- The blue screen should have the name of a module it happens in. Is that always the same?
- Does this happen on both of your PC's/laptops or just on one?
- Assuming you use a browser to view that episode, does it happen in all browsers you have (like Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge) or just in one?

The blue screen appears on my Dell laptop everytime I try to watch programming on CBS.com. My browser of choice is Google Chrome.

I decided to try to watch the NCIS episode on my LG K8 2018 android smartphone and I had no problems on the phone. I will go back to the laptop and try again.

If another blue screen message appears I will attempt to copy and paste the new message here for comparison to my previous blue screen message I posted here earlier.

It's one thing to watch programming on a 5" screen but watching the same programming on a 15.6" laptop screen is much better.

The browser I was using on my laptop at the time I attempted to watch programming on CBS.com last night was Google Chrome.

So things that might work:
1. Use another browser for viewing cbs.com
2. Disable Flash hardware accelleration in your browser.

3.

3. Disable Hardware Acceleration in the browser you use.

Then it's not that.

Time to let your PC repair folk work on it.

Either that or consider buying a new laptop. I tried using Firefox; then Internet Explorer only to be told on CBS.com their website didn't support Internet Explorer so I switched back to Google Chrome which I like. Could me recently installing an update of Java have caused this problem?

As to Java.

You could uninstall Java since I don't see it used on CBS videos here. But if you find IE, Firefox work, you go with that. If all fail, it's something driver or hardware. This does not tell you which.
