Blue screen again

Nov 28, 2004 6:45AM PST

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about a blue screen. I wanted to know how serious this is compared to other errors. I was told to get more info. It just now did it again when I was trying to connect to my dial-up server. The sreen said, "A fatal exception OE has occurred at 00238:C001545A. The current application will be terminated". I had to restart. I ran scandisk and it showed nothing. I signed on again and it went through fine. This is an old Dell Optiplex GX1, Pentium III Processor, Windows 98, 448 MB RAM. I hope that's the right info. Thanks

Vesta,

It usually is better to keep your responses identified with your original thread. Any suggestions will then be carried forward with your additions. For those interested, here is a direct link to your original post about this subject:

In that post, Bob Proffitt made a suggestion about maintenance of the computer. Have you tried performing any maintence steps? Taken the cover off and cleaned out the dust from inside the computer?

Here are some links to some good procedures to follow that should also help...:

Have you got spyware removal tools installed and do you run them. If not, here are some links to some good free ones. Download, install, update, then run them.:
