blue ray bd-p1590 remote control problem. Help!

by kevincallan / June 23, 2010 10:59 AM PDT

I'm totally confused over the issue I am having with my Samsung blue ray bd-p1590. When I load a disc, it's either not loading or usually it loads but then I have no control over it with the remote. The remote will work to turn on and off the machine, and volume will work, and open and close the disc but nothing else works (ie. menue, play, pause...). What's up? I checked batteries and they're fine.

Please help.

If you have a flip phone with a camera, try pointing the remote at the lens and pressing a few different buttons to see if the problem isn't with the remote.

Here's an example of how to do that:

If the remote checks out, check to see if you have the latest version of the firmware.

Keep me posted.

I think I may have fixed it. I pushed the stop button on the machine itself and it seems to have re-set the remote (not sure why).

I also am having problems with the remote. Every button on the remote does nothing except for the top 3 (Power, open/close, t.v. Power). I confirmed that the remote is sending a signal when any button is pushed using a cell phone vid camera. I tried to upgrade the firmware via ethernet as well as with a CD... everything is fine up until the point I need to choose 'Yes' or 'No' from the upgrade firmware prompt. Is there a way to choose yes without the remote? The front of my player is always stuck on 'LOAD' or 'CLOSE'.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue.

If you're able to confirm that the remote is sending a signal, it may be the unit that's not receiving or using the codes being sent. Initially, it just sounds like the unit is going to require service.

same problem

I am experiencing the exact same problem - very frustrating, and taking the machine in for servicing will most likely cost as much as a new machine. are there any other options?

Have had the same problem off & on since buying the player. Unplugging the player and plugging back in clears it up for awhile. But what a hassle!
