DVD part not yet... the Oppo Bd player maybe dvd region free but it is not out yet & I don't know when, maybe in the next 3 months or sooner.
BD from UK to USA player, maybe, maybe not***. Blu ray uses diffrent regions.
Region A: will consist of the U.S., Japan, Latin America, and East
Asia, except for China
Region B: Africa, Southwest Asia, Europe (except Russia), Oceania area
Region C: Central Asia, East Asia (Mainland China and Mongolia only), South Asia, central Eurasia..
***Some BD's will have all regions A,B & C (region free) so any BD player in the world can play it BUT it varies from title to title, so you have to check before buying. They put the region area on the back cover in the lower corner normaly.
Hello
Currently,I have a large collection of zones 1 and 2 DVDs which I play on 2 Philipps DVD players ( dezoned through the simple code inputted on the remote) one hooked to an Aquos flat screen TV via an HDMI cable ,the other to a Toshiba rear projector via a PbCr Y cable.I can watch zone 2 PAL/ SECAM DVDs on either of my NTSC TVs.The Philips handles the PAL to NTSC conversion well thanks to a large buffer.
If I upgrade to Bluray:
1-will I be able to watch my zone 2 PAL/SECAM DVDs using the Bluray player ( is there a choice?some yes some no?) hooked to the same 2 TVs?
2-If I buy a European Bluray disk will I be able to play it on the US-bought Bluray player? As I understand it ,the Bluray world is no longer devided in 6 zones but in 2?
Many thanks for bringing clarity to a topic that is confusing.
Regards
