Blogging Software

by lambo13 / August 22, 2006 9:29 AM PDT

Ok, did a search, no good (if I'm wrong, just point me to the right thread).

I'm starting a website for my family. I've made good progress (Dreamweaver 8 is fantastic), but I now need some advice.

My dream is to have each family have their own page where they can write and post their own blog (so I stop getting weekly email updates about everything my cousins do) as well as pictures. So basically, blogging software that will allow multiple authors where they don't need to know a bit of html.

The cheaper the beter.

Also, any advice on how to allow them to post their own photo albums (not just pictures in a blog post, but their own collections of images to the site)?

Thanks in advance!

Just use some that are already out there - myspace, worldpress, msn space..........

It is primarily an aesthetic reason. I don't want to have a link to a myspace page covered with advertisements, which is frequently slow as heck, and I know my younger cousins have no desire to have their parents stumble on their personal myspace sites either.

I don't know if there is even software out there that will allow me to do this at all, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Thanks for the idea though Andrea! I know it would be infinitely easier, but I have a vision in mind for our family site!

Just a few blogging systems you could download and install on your server. Of course, you could use WordPress on the wordpress site and be hosted by them. Or something like blogger.com will let you have the blog published to your own server. Plenty of options open to you there Wink

I checked out WordPress and then found out that my host can automatically install it for me!

Thanks for the advice!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
