Blockiness in Panasonic TH-42PX50U

Jun 14, 2005 6:42AM PDT

We just bought a Plasma TV (Panasonic TH-42PX50U), and I am noticing the following problem:

(We do not have HDTV feed, just normal feed from DISH network (Satellite TV).)

The problem is that on moving sequences (fights, games, even walking people), I see pronounced blockiness in the picture. When I pause the picture, you can count the blocks!!! The blocks appear even in heads that are moving (eyebrows are two lines with a blocky connection point, instead of a smooth curve etc.)

Please let me know why this is happening. Is it a function of DISH satellite feed? Will it go away if I view HDTV? Since there are only few HDTV channels, am I stuck with blocky pictures when watching TV (movies etc.) on other non-HD channels? What about DVD playing?

Prior to buying the TV, I had researched and found that such blockiness is more a problem with LCD, not Plasma.

Thanks for your help.
