Blocked Website

Feb 8, 2010 12:04AM PST

I can?t ever seem to open this site:

http://www.fscclub.com/eyewitness/eyewitness2.shtml

I get at the top of the page the message ?Internet Explorer provided by Dell (Not Responding),? and the browser freezes. However, the entire site is always viewable on (of all places) a PC at the public library. I have IE 8 and Vista Home Premium, use Google Toolbar and access the internet with telco DSL. I believe all the IE settings are the defaults. I tried lowering the IE security zones with no change, and then restored the defaults. I don?t think I have any child controls as I can view sites far racier than this (but enough about that). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you tried another browser?

Try another browser, such as Firefox or Chrome, and see if the site loads normally. There are a number of potential causes of such issues, including browser settings, installed browser plug-ins, and installed security software, making using another browser both a quick fix and the first step in determining the source of the problem.

I installed Firefox and have the same problem: when I try to go to that page the message now says Firefox is not responding.

Try this...

Try enabling compatibility mode. It is the broken page icon next to the refresh button on the toolbar. Here?s a good resource from the IEBlog that talks about compatibility mode in detail if you?d like to learn more: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/02/16/just-the-facts-recap-of-compatibility-view.aspx

If that doesn?t work, run IE in No Add-ons Mode. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) - If this fixes the issue, then go to Tools -> Manage Add-ons and enable the add-ons one by one to find which one was causing the problem.

You can also try resetting Internet Explorer's settings by going to Tools > Internet Options and then the "Advanced" tab, and click "Reset..."

If you?re still not having any luck, I recommend you reinstall IE8 on your system.

I hope this helps.
