"bleeding" email images

Hello to everyone. A friend of mine is having a weird problem, and I can't get a lead by Googling her description of it. Also, I can't see her computer; she's a long distance friend.

The computer in question is HP, internet hookup is dsl, she's running XP, and I don't know much more than that. She has email addresses via Hotmail, Yahoo, MSN; she also has G-mail, with Outlook and Outlook Express on her computer, but she doesn't use the latter two anymore.

Recently, she has had a problem with her emails "bleeding through" other images on her monitor. I'm really curious about this, and I don't have a clue. Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Thanks much.
