blank screen and beeping continuosly

Jun 10, 2007 12:20PM PDT

When I press on button (boot) then there is only blank screen (monitor indicator from green to orange. Monitor going to sleep) and continuos beeping sound. I already change the battery, remove and plug in again RAM, Graphic Card and all connection. But the problem still occur. The light on the motherboard still on (there is no power supply failure). The fan still running and also harddisk. But why I cant boot my PC. I already try using my RAM and Power supply with another computer and they work properly. I also try make minimum connection which mean only insert RAM and Graphic card and hardisk but still not work. Before this happen, my PC always restart. it occur twice in an hour. this problem also arise after two days i installing NIC card (brand prolink)and use my PC about 7-10 hours. (normally I use only 3 -4 hours). Is that any motherboard hardware problem such as overheating. Or my processor is broke down already. or my NIC is the problems.

I use Window XP SP2 operating system.
Pentium 4, 2.0 GHz
512 Kingston RAM.
Nvidia graphic card (I not sure which model)
Maxtor (hardisk)(contain window)
Seagate (harddisk)(only files)

Will It Boot In Safe Mode?

CAn you access the BIOS?

Reseated all the hard drive cables?

Have you tried reinstalling the operating system.. (If the hard drive has died, then the installation will probably fail.)

Hope this helps.

Thank you for answering my question.
The problems still not solve yet.
I cannot enter the boot setup (cannot enter BIOS)as my monitor just display blank screen.
My harddisk cable and harddisk itself is working properly with another computer.
By the way what is the continous long beeping means
I suspected my motherboard failure like last year before.
how can i know either my motherboard is the reason of my computer cannot boot. I afraid that i being trick by computer store like my friend who only have displaced RAM and ended by buying new motherboard.
Thank you

Yep, Sounds Like The Motherboard...

First, I would make sure the monitor is good by testing it on another computer.. If it works on another computer, then your inability to access the BIOS indicates a strong possibility of a motherboard problem.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for helping me giving some advice and suggestion regarding to my PC problem. Actually I already take my PC to PC shop as changing monitor also didnt solve the problem and guess what is the actual problem, it is the CMOS. My CMOS is already in faulty condition. This happen because of the new software that i install to my computer to accelerate the internet connection (hey it really accelerate and maximum my internet connection) by tweaking window setting. This software is actually change hardware configuration which mean affecting the CMOS memory. So to repair this problem the technician short circuit the CMOS and download back it software (I am not computer expert so this is what I see). This is what the technician tell to me. Thanks again to whom giving me some suggestion I really appreciate that and I am writing this message to help others who have same problem with me. Cheers!
