Windows XP has the native ability to burn CDs only, so you need to use third-party burning software to write data to it. Windows Explorer will always report the capacity as that which has already been burned to the disk for this reason. If you don't have burning software available CDBurnerXP is a nice freeware option.
Hope this helps,
John
Every time I put a new DVD in my PC, its properties keep showing
"Used: 0 byte
Free: 0 byte
Total capacity: 0 byte"
or even worse, sometimes it'd say that there's no disk in the drive
I use brand new DVD-R and +R from Playo, TDK, Memorex, HP, and Dynex. I've aldy tried different computers, including 3 desktops and 1 laptops but the DVD all have 0-byte capacity. Because it shows that the DVDs have 0 capacity, I can't burn or use them in anyway. Why does this happen? Is it the DVD or the computer? And what can I do to fix this? Please help!
