Blackberry Storm Not Supporting Podcasts

Dec 3, 2008 5:52AM PST

When my Internet went AWOL earlier today before I got the latest BOL episode I thought no problem, I'll download it to my new Storm.

Yeah right *seethe*

I kept getting an error (403) that suggested the file was too large and was blocked by Vodafone. However, when I contacted them I was told that the Blackberry did not advertise itself as being able to download podcasts specifically over the internet and that it was not a supported feature.

Basically I was told I was out of luck.

I asked if it was to do with the size of the file and I was told that Vodafone do not restrict the size of any download although the Vodafone support guy suggested a file of podcast size would probably take up too much bandwidth and the fact that it copuld not download would be becaues 'the bandwidth' wouldn't be there' to handle it.

I really wish I had bought an iPhone and can only suggest that those thinking of getting a Storm as an alternative to the iPhone think again and stay away from this phone and carrier.

Media should be a primary function of a phone these days, not just another app, but with how popular mp3 players are, should be treated just as important as the phone function. I'm not convinced blackberry gets this, bring on the zune phone next best chance of an iPhone competitor.
