Blackberry & Outlook

Sep 1, 2004 4:46AM PDT

Help, Help!! I've been trying for weeks to figure out how to load Outlook on to my Blackberry 7280. I've gone to AT&T (my service provider) and they are no help. I've gone to RIM and they are no help.

I am TOTALLY confused and weary of this whole problem.

Can someone, anyone, help me?

I need to know:
:How to load Outlook onto my Blackberry (yes, I've got the desktop manager on my computer). Do I need to purchase a new Outlook or can I use the one I already have?
:How to snyc the two (Outlook and the Blackberry together) together.
:How to use Outlook.

Please, please someone throw me a line and help me.

"How to load Outlook onto my Blackberry (yes, I've got the desktop manager on my computer). Do I need to purchase a new Outlook or can I use the one I already have?"

Microsoft has no version that loads outlook onto that device. So that's a no-go.

"How to snyc the two (Outlook and the Blackberry together) together."

Maybe Intellisync. I leave you to google.com that software. The person that sold you the blackberry should be talked to as well. You pay them for support, use it.

"How to use Outlook."

Outlook is a huge program with far too many features to be taught in this small space. If you had asked "How do I ????" then someone may help with what you were having an issue with. If the F1 key doesn't help, then go get a book on Outlook.

I think it is important to note that you don't really load outlook onto your blackberry - you sync it. So if your desktop is loaded, you need to familiarize yourself with the Blackberry desktop manager - if you tap on help you will be walked through it. If you have been a palm user, you can't really go direct with sync'ing the palm desktop with the blackberry desk manager.

I am not a technical person, I am a functional, but it took me about 4-6 hours to self educate myself by reading all the on line manuals, etc. I have only been a blackberry owner for 6 days, but am fully functional. I have 3 desktops at three different client sites as well as my home computer. I have loaded the blackberry tool on each one - and have customized the sync options so that only my calendar synces at each site, and at home I maintain all my contacts in sync with my blackberry. I have only two email accounts rolling through the black berry web client - my aol account and the blackberry one.

It is all a little confusing but the on line support through my carrier - Cingular as well as the blackberry on line docs and support that's free got me through it.

Everything should be in the user's manual. It seems to be quite clear. Which part gives you difficulty ? If you do not have the manual, it can be downloaded here. For instructions on how to use Outlook, google for 'Outlook(tutorial' or similar key words and you will get some useful information.

If you wish to get your Outlook emails (assuming you want company emails from Exchange) you need to be using BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) however if you are trying to access personal emails from say hotmail or yahoo you need to use the webclient of blackberry and use it to pull emails out of your hotmail/yahoo/gmail and forward the same to your device.

Do realize here that your HTML mails will convert to text mails when they reach the Blackberry device
