Black&White laser printer

Feb 25, 2014 8:19PM PST

I run an accounting office at home and I need a good, reliable printer. I have lot of things to print during the day, so I'd prefer something durable, rather than nice Happy
I've seen this Brother's printer, but I'd like to know about its weaknesses in advance and what are they.

Just one.

At about 70 bucks folk usually don't understand that out of warranty repair is never done. Figure 2 years for such printers under normal use.

That seems to upset folk.

As to the link provided, that gets spammed a lot so never go there for reviews.

Brother mono laser

That is probably a good way to go, I've recommended the little Brother Lasers to others over the years as an inexpensive way to go for home office use. They are as reliable as any at the price level and frankly, better than most.

That's the "little brother" to the 2270DW I have. That model is wifi capable and generally is a notch better than the 2230. It so happens that the 2270 is recommended as the better printer to get. I didn't realize that when I got it but it has proven to be quite a good printer for all my needs. I suspect the 2230 will be too, but I state from experience the 2270 though. About the only weakness if you want to call it that is the "starter toner cart" will be gone quickly if you print alot, so be ready. I have found replacement toner carts are reasonable in price and 3rd party(trusted vendors) are OK. I tend to buy from Amazon or OfficeMax and has very good print and reliability. I should add i do "label sheets" and the frt. feed is OK and will do basic envelopes should the need arise. FYI- I tend to use the straight through print path rather than "on top basket" as it lessens any crinkles or smudges, etc., and drops the print on a tray I provide.

My thumbs-up and 5-star recommendation based on the 2270. I got mine at $90, free s/h well over a yr. ago.
