Black Screen in PC Mode with MacMini on LE40A676

Feb 19, 2009 5:43PM PST

Hello,
I have a brand new Samsung LE40A676 and a brand new MacMini. When i try to connect the MacMini in PC mode (with Apple DVI-VGA adaptor and VGA cable) The boot screen appears (on the TV) and when the desktop should appear the screen becomes black with 'no signal' message on the TV Sad Can you help me please ?

Seems more like a Mac problem than a TV-problem.

First get the Mac to display it's screen on a REGULAR VGA monitor. Then put the same cable that produces such a nice pic on the regular monitor in the Samsung. Does it work?

Unfortunatly no,
I have a LCD 15 inch monitor aside the HDTV and i use it to setup the mac. when I unplug the VGA monitor and I plug the VGA cable to the HDTV and I select PC on HDTV I have a black screen.

1920x1080@60Hz seems to work

The strange thing is that during the boot, the HDTV Samsung shows "1920x1080@60Hz" and the image is realy nice (grey background, with Apple Logo, and speening wheel) Then The screen becomes black and the red power led flashes. So It means that all is ready to work but it doesn't Sad

stegad,

If it's able to get the splash screen, it means that the BIOS driver is compatible enough to send the signal to the screen, and the television can process it.

It seems that when the OS finishes booting up, or goes to the wallpaper screen, that it's THEN not compatible. This suggests that the driver for the computer is not sending the signal to the television any longer, or that the signal that is being sent has changed or can't be displayed. I would recommend checking your video card for the latest driver and make sure the settings are consistent (overscan at 0% is a good piece of advice, too).

VGA is analog, and DVI is digital. The cable may play into this as well.
