Black Screen At Startup

Reinstalled XP for older Dell back to box stock. Now I believe it thinks there are 2 OS's because I get a choice (both XP) at startup. Just selecting first (or hit enter) and boot continues no problem. Second XP choice does nothing, just annoying. How to fix?
