THE DEAD PC (see that on google) is where we just don't know what's dead. It could be simple as a dead CMOS battery so I get out the Volt meter (if you work on PCs you need one) to measure the battery, My criteria for the common CR2032 is over 3.00 Volts. 3.00 and lower are replaced.
Now that it's a basic check we turn it on and check all the PSU legs. All must be within say 10% of their expected value or the PSU is suspect.
Now that's done we unplug everything that is optional. This varies with the PC but the i7 has graphics so we don't need the GPU. The drives are removed, we reduce the RAM to one stick and unplug ALL motherboard connections except power. To power up we use the pen tip as we learned on google of "THE DEAD PC." If that doesn't give video then we are looking at the possible bad parts.
If we are this far into the PC the next stop is to remove the case. The PSU, motherboard is set on cardboard and we try one last time. At this point it's only what parts are left.
Hi, i have a really big problem with my computer and i hope someone is able to help me with this problem, because i used all my knowledge and im kinda stuck.
While i was gaming, my computer froze and i had to turn it off. After turning it on, a black screen appeared and my keyboard and mouse (which are RGB and usually glow) stopped glowing and working. My computer turned on tho, the fans were spinning and the mainboard light and everything worked and when i connected a other device like my phone it got power.
I tried to get that problem solved and ordered (in the following order) a new power supply, mainboard, CPU and RAM.
After replacing the power supply, mainboard and CPU, the computer turned off and on in a loop/ the screen was getting no signal. After installing the new RAM, my screen was still black and no keyboard or mouse was getting recognised. I have no mainboard speaker so i don't getting any beep code but im planning to buy one soon. I tested both mainboards with the new CPU, RAM and Power Supply and with 3 different screens over Vga, Dvi, Hdmi and Display port and there was still no signal. I also have a graphics card and tested it with and without it.
My specs are:
- Intel Core I7 7700 (previous Intel Core I7 6700K)
- Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Ultra Gaming (LGA 1151, Intel Z170 Express, ATX) (previous ASUS Z170-A (LGA 1151, Intel Z170, ATX))
- Corsair Vengeance LED (2x, 8GB, DDR4-3200, DIMM 28![]()
(previous Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x, 8GB, DDR4-3200, DIMM 288))
- EVGA SuperNOVA G2 (650W) (previous Cooler Master G550M (550W))
-GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 960 4GB WINDFORCE 2X OC EDITION
-Samsung 850 Pro (256GB, 2.5")/ WD Blue (3000GB, 3.5", Desktop)
I really hope someone can help me with this problem.
