This problem has me baffled..... I start up my laptop and go in as usual... well almost usual.... I only go in to a black screen with pointer... I can get into safe mde without any problem. but when I go back to normal mode I only get the black screen with arrow...

Read http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_vista.html and disable what you can. Maybe you can avoid an OS reload.
And by omitting the model number I'll omit other known model issues.

That was the first thing I did... I went in to the msconfig and disabled everything.... Still same problem...

Sorry to write that this is a well known problem. It only gets worse. See if your model is included.
