Black screen

by BridgetW / March 27, 2008 6:11 AM PDT

I'm using XP and every now and then I get a black screen for a moment and then my page comes right back up. Why would this be happening? I'm using an HP Pavillion Slimline s7520n. Also, how do I get rid of taskbar items? Qwest messenger comes up automatically when I turn on my computer.

Click on the link below and follow the procedures:

For Windows 2000/XP, ignore the first couple of sentences about checking "resources" and the "Performance tab" in the link below but follow the rest of the procedures including the "Services" links at the bottom.

How To Shut Down Unnecessary Start Up Programs

As to Qwest Messenger, see if it's the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs section.. If it's there, uninstall it.. If it's not there, then check the "msconfig" program mentioned in the link above.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
