Is that an IDE CD drive? If so, remove the DATA CABLE and power up. If it won't open use the manual eject to free it up. If it's not working with just power applied it's either bad power or a dead drive.
I am working on getting a computer back up and running after its video card went out. I tested the monitor on another computer and it worked fine, but gave a Check Video cable on the broken tower. The Video card fan was no longer running, and based on its age, thought the card was no longer working. The old video card worked on and off for a short time until it totally stopped working. I replaced the card with a new one (I didn't have the opportunity to uninstall the old drivers and the motherboard does not have a video hook up).
After putting in the new card, immediately after turning on the computer, all I can get is the rotating colors of white, red, blue, black, orange, etc.
Both cards are PCI 16x1
The new card is ASUS 210 SILENT 1GB DDR3
Motherboard is ASUS P5B
2 SATA HDD
2GB Corsair DDR2 RAM
I also cannot get the CD drive to open while the computer is on.
