Error condition

In reply to: In Addition.....

You need to correct the missing color before you can continue. Then reset for mono output and check results. If you get into your own refills, now is the time. BTW, Walgreen's drugstore if in your area provides refills, you do it or they and its not bad. Or any other vendor. The other posters mentioned current status of new printers need "good to go condition" before they print. So always correct any errors.

As for refilling color ink carts with black to defeat any setting, well that *may work* or not. I'm doubtful, as it maybe too rich in black and if plain paper start to bleed out. However, it wouldn't hurt to try if you had the time and proceed on your results.

Is the color ink cartridge empty?

In reply to: BLACK INK ONLY?? Epson Durabrite Inkjet CX6400 Helppppp!

Most inject printers, including the CX6400, now require all ink cartridges to be non-empty and unexpired, even if you're only using one of them, in order to print.

All printers today...

In reply to: BLACK INK ONLY?? Epson Durabrite Inkjet CX6400 Helppppp!

Require all carts full. It has to do with warranty and more. Think about clogged jets, etc. If you are searching for a printer that keeps printing when carts are empty you won't find one today. If you need a deep explanation be sure to call each maker and ask.

-> Here's an idea. Get all the carts filled with black ink?
