Question

Black dots on the lens?

Aug 19, 2014 9:32AM PDT

Hello. First off my camera is a Cannon SX30 IS. I was at the beach the other day taking some photos, I went to put the lens cap on because I was going to walk around, I left the camera on though so I would not have to turn it back on in a few seconds. When I put the lens cap on the lens retracted into the camera just by the little force I put on it to put the cap on; I did not push it hard or anything, but the lens retracted a little. When I stopped freaking out and got the camera working again, it seemed to work fine, but I noticed a few black dots showing up on my pictures and the preview screen. What it looks like to me is oil or something got splashed on the inside lens, because it is not on the outside lens. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or am I stuck with the black dots?
Thanks for any assistance.
Michael
