Bizzare Internet behavior

by tzouras / July 3, 2006 2:56 AM PDT

I am getting some strange behavior from my internet connection. In the last couple of months I am having trouble browsing sites I used to browse before without any problems.

Most of the sites I am having trounle with are sites in which I am sending information. One of the sites is this site. I cannot even post a message here from my PC. (Obviously I am sending this from another PC). What happens is I click ''submit'' and then nothing happens.

The same happens in many other sites. Hotmail is one of them. I can't even login there. I press login after entering my info, and then I just get a blank page. This only happens on my PC.

I try accessing those sites after a fresh restart, a new ip, but it won't work.

My antivirus (Panda Titanium) reports that all is fine. I am using Windows Firewall.

System Info: Windows XP SP2, Pentium IV 3 GHz, 3 GB RAM

What could be the problem here?

You may wish to check if you're anti-virus software is preventing the sites from functioning correctly. Try accessing the sites with the software turned off, or explore the options setting and turn off ad-blocking or similar options.

Try another browser. If you use IE, install and run Firefox and see if the problem continues.
Also, I would suggest you to use a stronger firewall

http://www.hotmail.com; http://www.yahoo.com (2 email addresses). But I also am online with aol.com and one address is blocked except cnet.com's at the one you see: DarCLew2@aol.com. I have custom setup for that, and it has been that way since 1999. I have had a iesetup.exe on my zip drive and it took up 480kb of space. You could try to fix Windows using your WINXP CD I did that once and all my other programs stayed intact but if you have SP2 and updates, you may lose them. But you can check to see if your IE works and you can download IE6 SP1 and it is only 480KB as iesetup.exe and that will fit on a floppy from any computer. When it runs, it is 9kb - 77.5MB in size.
So you have another alternative. Darrell Lewis
PS - I double checked the original and deleted the old one and installed the same on a zip drive
