GOOD DAY,

Why didn't you get a 7600GT?
Jul 10, 2006 6:06AM PDT

You can get an eVGA 7600GT for $135 after rebate from newegg. The 7600GT will KILL the 7600GS, so for an extra $15, I don't see how you didn't get the GT.

512MB

Thanks for your input.
I guess the 512mb caught my eye due to having 512MB vs 256MB......The first thing that I was concerned about was the heat issues (see past posts) The Biostar has an impressive set up heatsink and fan to dispence heat. If this does not work out then I'm gonna have to try a different brand and setup.

thanks again

512MB means nothing...

...when the GPU isn't powerful to use all of that VRAM. The 7600GT, despite having "only" 256MB VRAM, will kill the 7600GS in all games and benchmarks.

Compare the memory speeds: The 7600GS has 512MB of GDDR2 memory that's running at 800MHz. The 7600GT has 256MB of GDDR3 memory that's running at 1500MHz. The 7600GT has 24GB/s of memory bandwidth, whereas the 7600GS has 12.8GB/s.

Good day,
thanks for your to the point information, so I guess I could return the card and try the 7600gt. I'm also going to replace the existing case fans to increase air flow. I'm not sure what size is on it now, what is your expert opion?

Thanks,
Movin

How many fans do you have right now? My case has a small 80mm fan in the front to draw cool air into the case. In the back, there's a large 120mm fan which blows out the hot air. There's also a vent on the side for the air blown off of the CPU to escape.

Cooling case fans
Jul 11, 2006 1:46AM PDT

Hey thanks for your reply,
The T6524 has an what looks like open vent holes at the bottom no fan detected, there is a an 80mm exhaust fan in the middle rear of the case, the power supply also has an exhaust fan, the AMD 64 Athlon has a small fan and heatsink, the case itself has numerous vent holes. With the stock exhaust fan the temp of the CPU was at 50c/122.f, System temp 44c/111.f. I replaced the exhaust fan last night with a Vantec Tornado that dropped the temp down considerably 37c/98.f across the board. However at a cost this ****** is loud...package states 5800rpm running at 6144rpms. Not sure if I can control the fan speed.. or take it back out due to high rpms.

thanks,Movin

You might want to consider a new case, one which is larger, and has better airflow.
