...I will install, especially on new computers. If it's to fix something esoteric that I don't think will affect me, I don't. What does the documentation for this update say?
I just got a new HP ProDesk computer that was originally loaded with Windows 8.1 but downgraded to Windows 7 before it was purchased. I have since upgraded to Windows 10 and everything seems to be running fine. Today the HP Support popup notified me of a "crucial update" which consisted only of a BIOS update. Research tells me that BIOS updates can be very dangerous and often unnecessary, especially if the computer seems to be functioning properly. So, should I install the BIOS update or leave it alone?
