Please tell more about the message. When did it appear? What was the text (as complete and litterally as you can remember)? Do you happen to know what program it came from?

You can't really disable the BIOS. The computer wouldn't do anything without it. Please tell exactly what you did, how you did it, and why you did it. After all, if you don't know what the BIOS is, it's remarkable, at least, that you know how to disable it (whatever "it" is).

Tell more about your antivirus. Which one do you use? Is did updated continually? And what exactly is the warning (full and litteral text) and when do you get it.

And please tell your operating system (Windows XP?).

It's understandable you are afraid. And maybe even you've a good reason to be. But please understand we need all the above information, and maybe more, to help you. We're dependent on your skill to clearly tell all the relevant details. And at the moment that's just nog enough to tell anything.

BIOS
Jun 14, 2007 12:27AM PDT

The msg appeared when I restarted my pc. The reason I restarted was because it started acting weird. It wasn't letting me scroll. When I scrolled the letters would get bigger???
then when I restarted I got what looked like the "safe mode" and said some thing about floppy error and that I had to disable BIOS to update. it gave me the option on how to dissable and I did. I went to cnet to check on BIOS update and found a program to download. I started to do that and posted my question here. I have since enabled it again by restarting and getting that warning again.
I lost the download.
I have McAfee and I ran a scan with that today as well as a defrag and a quick clean. I always check for updates and keep up with them.
It was the first time I ever got that warning.
I am operation windows xp. plz get back to me asap!!

Rosita,

You might not know it, but if (in Internet Explorer) you keep ctrl pressed while using the scroll wheel, it will not scroll but make the letters bigger (or smaller). So either you pressed ctrl by accident, or there's something wrong with the keyboard. Try another one if the problem persists. How is it doing right now?

I can't place the message about floppy errors and updating the BIOS. But I do know that you shouldn't use a program from cnet to update the BIOS, but only programs provided by the maker of your PC or motherboard, that you download from their site. And then it can't be done from Windows, generally, but you need to boot from a diskette. And you sure didn't do that.

Can you post the full and literal text of the message you get? Without typos please, so I can google it. If the message comes in Windows, you might be able to copy and paste, and otherwise you'll have to carefully retype it yourself. And can you better describe how that 'safe mode' looks? I doubt if it is 'safe mode'. Safe mode, you know, is the Windows desktop with the text "Safe mode" in all 4 corners of the screen. You can't miss it. It's not very easy for something to be anything else and still show as safe mode.
And what happens if just ignore the warning?

Still more questions than answers. The more you tell and the better you tell it, the clearer situation might become.
