General discussion

bios/backup/restore

Nov 16, 2004 8:19AM PST

I have this program that allows me to boot up a desktop pc from floppy and create a compressed full backup of the hard drive. Is there any problem with trying this on a laptop? I want to be able to return the pc to as-pristine-as -possible state if it gets bogged down with all kinds of stuff.

In a related question, I have noticed that some desktop pcs make it hard to use the system restore feature. Since up till now I have made my own pc's and use the full install of windows I am not used to seeing this. I have seen two dell pc's which either disable this feature or hide it by some means.

Lastly, is it any harder to get into the bios of a laptop than a desktop? Thanks, Rex.
