Music file contains 38 iTunes. Before I trash them, can you tell me how to click so I can trash them all at one time? (Never could figure that one out...lame, I know.) I am standing by.

38 iTunes

Where are you seeing these 39 iTunes?

If they are in iTunes, then you should see them when you open iTunes. Do you?

Are you referring to MP3 files as iTunes?

To select more than one file at a time, click the first one, and then Shift + Click the last one. That selects all in between the two selected files.
Apple + Click will select none-contiguous files

iTunes folder
Nov 4, 2006 2:19AM PST

The iTunes folder was under Finder. There is no Find file as the other poster asked me to find, the one that would have mp3 files. Many of the iTunes are listed as damaged and others have the graphic that has the page with a corner turned down. Just asked my daughter if she's even downloaded mp3 files and she doesn't remember. Good Lord...

Finder is the OS
Nov 4, 2006 7:30AM PST

Finder is the name for the System interface. It is, essentially, the OS.
Its icon is the Square smiley face, with the little black triangle under it, at the left hand end of the dock. It is always running.
Find File is launched by either holding down the Apple key and pressing F or by going to the menubar that says Finder and going to File/Find File.

iTunes is a program (application). It plays music files. (MP3, MP4 and a whole bunch of other stuff)
Launch iTunes and you will see, in the left hand pane, the word Library.
Click it. Everything in the right hand window are the tracks that are in iTunes. How many are there? This is where you will delete them from.

and deleted nearly 3000 iTunes, restarted and it appears I'm good to go. Thanks for getting me in the groove. It's going to a lot more enjoyable being online now! Thanks again.

Good for you

As Boya84 pointed out, a lot of those tracks may have been ripped from CD's.
I can count on the fingers of one hand, how many tracks I have purchased from the ITMS. My iTunes has a bunch of tracks in it though.

I am still a little concerned that you had to go the Find File route to see these 3000 tracks. They should have all been visible inside the iTunes program when you launched it.
What could you see inside iTunes when the program was running?

Regarding the iTunes question
Nov 5, 2006 6:23AM PST

I've never used iTunes. Don't know how and don't intend to follow up with that program as it's my daughter's Big Thing and she's moved on to the MacBook with file transfers from the old iBook. So I'm afraid I can't answer your question. I can tell you, though, that my daughter does her computer work by the seat of her pants so who knows how things got where they are. I'll be posting a new thread momentarily about my inability to automatically store passwords....

You may not have used iTunes but it is there for you.
Ditto iPhoto, which is the next thing we have to deal with

Just to be clear on the iTunes downloads...
Nov 4, 2006 10:19AM PST

3000 iTunes songs or entries or whatever you want to call them does not mean 3000 iTune downloads (and at US$0.99 each, that is quite an investment). It is possible that songs had been ripped from CDs as well... which is the bulk of my collection.

the Sensei has a trick or two left to impart.

May I also suggest that you try that method when selecting most anything.
