I understand a few European countries have already told him where he can shove his offer

Hopefully the rest will follow suit or not even dignify it with a response.

Hmmmmm......maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way

Maybe one country should come out and agree to negotiations, provided they take place in that country and bin Laden participates in person. I'd be more than glad to be part of the welcoming committee. Wink

I also noted recently, Josh,...

...that the Spanish people haven't gotten the return on investment they hoped for by turning Prime Minister Aznar out. Now the terrorists want Spain to remove its troops from Afghanistan before they'll "guarantee" (yeah, right!) a cessation in their attacks.

I wonder how long it'll take the Euros to realize that efforts at appeasing these people are viewed by them as so many signs of weakness? Will they ever figure it out? I suspect not...

Looks to me like he's basically trying to start a global "protection racket."

Shame on anyone who even contemplates appeasing him. I just hope they find him and soon; I don't even care if it means Bush gets re-elected. This is bigger than that.

Appeasement had nothing to do with the recent Spanish elections. Aznar was tossed because he went into Iraq with the opposition of about 90% of his population. Then his government gave misleading information about the bombing and tried to blame it on the Basques when evidence was either lacking or pointed at Muslim fundamentalists. That's plenty of reason to change PMs.

That's plenty of reason to change PMs.

Maybe so. But at the same time, all the news stories remember indicated Aznar was expected to win until the bombings happened.

Now how much shock and anger over at the perception the government deceived them about the bombings was responsible for the change I don't know. But itseems that Al Qaeda attack worked. The result was what they wanted.

I don't know if it hadn't been so close to the election that the effect would have been the same after people had had a bit of time to recover from shock and calm down from anger and indignation.

Things may have ended the same, they may not have.

But it certainly encourages the terrorists to try the same trick elsewhere just before elections.
