And where is the revolutionary socialist consciousness here?

In reply to: Bikers go hog-wild in China

In retrospect, I should have known that Communism was doomed when in the mid-80s, the people of Dresden (then in East Germany), unable to receive West German TV due to the fact that their city was in a valley that made it impossible for those signals to be received, successfully demanded that repeater towers be built on the surrounding hills.

In reply to: Gone like a cooool breeze...

you're right, and they "get" it in a big way!

two small items that relate to the chinese:
1..the price of scrap metal has risen by 500%...why? because the chinese are building (amongst other things) an Olympic Village/Stadium, and three 5 million pop. cities at 3 olympic stadiums which will only be "spruced up" for the Games

2..the price of scrap paper (the stuff you grind up and add water to make the mulch for new paper) has risen sky high...why? because the Chinese are buying up all the scrap paper they can get their hands on to feed the apetite of the ever growing literate population in china...
