big trouble with win 2000

by darken / July 21, 2005 10:45 PM PDT

i recently got back my PC from my ex, who managed to screw it up completely. Basically, after cleaning most of the viruses, the only problems I have now are as follows:
1. a previous installation of win 98 still appears to be there and as an option although it cannot be used. How can I remove this?
2. when starting win 2000, it goes directly into wordpad and opens window after window of configuration files- all my windows files can be reconfigured there and then, in wordpad, and I cannot stop this from happening.
3. I tried to format, but i do not have the admin password, and I don't have a win 2000 installation cd either.
the PC is kinda old- runs win 2000.

Sorry, without a Windows 2000 CD, I don't see how you'll fix this one.

Wipe the drive and install the OS you do have the CDs for.

-> The good news is that Microsoft will still replace your lost Windows 2000 CD for much less than what a full copy will cost at the store.

The local stores still have it in stock.

It's not dead and as to support, it's rare for people to call in for support since it does cost a bit. Microsoft will still offer phone support for the fee.

Meet the drop-resistant Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering.
