Big problem with 2 pc connection

by jessiicax01 / February 27, 2006 2:02 AM PST

Hi! I am having a bit of a problem with networking!!!
I have two PCs

Mike os=xp home
pat os=ox pro

These two PCs are connected through a D-Link router to share the internet cable connection.

Originally I was trying to transfer files from Mike PC to Pat PC using crossover cable but I wasn't able to succeed. So I decided to connect the router and try to share the files but I have come up with two problems.

1) PAT pc sees MIKE pc on workgroups but doesn't have access to it

2) On MIKE pc's workgroup I see Mike pc and I think that I did something wrong and don't know how to fix it!!

Could someone please help me I am in such a jam! Thanks Patty

firewalls to see if they are allowing file and printer sharing. Gaining access to a file may require you to create a User account for that PC on the other.

firewalls to see if they are allowing file and printer sharing. When you set a folder to be shared, XP will ask if you understand what you are doing, clicking on the message will open another window to allow that folder to be shared. A little hand will then appear below the folder.

In other cases, gaining access to a file may require you to create a User account for that PC on the other.
