Big Boo Boo

Nov 23, 2004 6:11AM PST

I took some pictures with a Kodak camera and transfered them to a folder in My Documents and then edited them until they were perfect, but forgot to specify to empty my Compact Flash card when I downloaded them. I use a docking station with my camera for downloading. I hooked the camera back up to find a way to empty card and when I did I downloaded the pictures again and emptied the card. When I opened the folder up it showed unedited pictures. I closed it and opened it again and ALL the pictures were gone. Is there an easy way to get them back? As you can see, I am not the brightest guy in the world. JB

Look in the system trash can. The files may still be there.

Do you have anything like Norton System Works?(assuming you have a Windows PC) If so, the system trash can will have a special entry for erased files preserved by Norton. Check both it and the normal system trash can to see if any of your images are in one of them.

If you know how to use Windows Explorer, search your hard drive for one of the file names. They may be stored somewhere other than where you are looking.

I do not have Norton's. I have already checked the recycle bin. I do not remember the file names, but do remember that some of them contained 056 and 057, etc, but these were just a few of the numbers. JB

Can you go to the recycle bin and then go to 'view' then thumbnails - and then arrange according to deletion date - you should be able to view your pictures rather than having to look for file extensions etc.
