Well, I kinda think Tony B. would have had him at his table if he knew of the circumstances at the time.

My respect for Tony goes back to the 60's when the USO solicited entertainers from 'stars' to travel to the Far East and entertain the troops. The 'big' stars would not go out of their way to visit 'out of the way' bases. Perhaps it could have something to do with the size of the base and the side money they could make playing extra at the Officers/NCO clubs.

Well, we were all thrilled to get Tony Bennet to go out of his way to visit our out of the way base during those days. As I recall he gave 6 great performances in three areas of the base.
