BFG 6600GT PCI-E work with T6212?

May 5, 2005 1:55PM PDT

Hey All,

I am starting to lean toward the BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC 128MB card instead of the X700 Pro. Both are about the same price it seems.

I will be putting it in the Emachines T6212 PCI-E slot.

I think the T6212 only has 300W Power Supply, is this sufficient? I read this model does not require an external connection to the psu.

Does anyone run one with a 6600GT and factory Power Supply, for the T6212?

I never replaced one before and don't want to ruin my warrenty either, if I don't have too.

Thanks!

Opening the case already voids your warranty. ALso, i think the BFG 6600GT is not very good. SUggest Evga 6600GT, which is $159 and is far better, your bfg is more expensive and its fan sucks.

What about x700pro 256Mb?
May 6, 2005 3:43AM PDT

Hey,

Thanks for your reply.

I am now concerned I will have to replace the power supply to support the 6600gt, do you have this in the T6212 with a factory power supply?

I read the x700pro doesn't need more than the 300w power supply needed by the factory power suuply in the T6212.

If anyone has one of these in their T6212 with a factory power supply please respond how well t works or if you had to replace power supply, thanks.

Any ideas would be much appretiated, thanks!

X700 Pro is very behind the 6600GT also. Might as well get an X800XL which is better if not as good as a 6800GT. If you don't want to fork over $300 for a graphics card, get the 6600GT and for the price of an x700Pro, buy a better power supply unit. A 400Watt will cost less than $50. I am 85% sure, you should be able to run the 6600GT with your 300W power supply
