Bezels, Physical Repairs

Aug 5, 2004 1:26PM PDT

I have scratched and dented my Hp Pavilion laptop. Hp does not offer the parts I need t ofix and no on the web or ebay seems to have the parts. Does anyone know of people who sell obscure front bezel assemblies and other parts for Hp Pavilion. If I have scrachted it, will Hp fix it.

You have not specified what model of HP notebook you have. However, if you come over to X1000forums.com (Compaq X1000/HPZT3000/HPnx7000) you should post the question there.

I have seen other people order a higher resolution LCD (SXGA+ or UXGA) to upgrade from XGA later after they go the notebook.

You, of course, need the full assembly around the monitor LCD not the LCD itself but there may be somewhere on E-bay you can find it.

Post the question over there as all users have HP/Compaq.

If you did not upgrade your warranty to a accidental damage warranty this damage likely would not be covered. But they do, of course, swap out LCD's and bezels all the time for LCD warranty repair failures so if you can't find one on Ebay you could at least call HPservice to find out what your options are.

Their repair facility is in Milpitas, CA (at least 1 of the 2 serving the US) so if you live in CA you may have that option.

Here's the deal. HP buys the LCD ready to pop onto the rest of the laptop. If you scratch the top lid, the entire LCD assembly would be the lowest part number that they can order.

Why fix this?

Brandnew laptop. I would like it to look new. Plus it is not mine, I am only borrwoing it. Though it looks I might have to send my laptop to HP.

I don't think you understood what Bob posted. They order the entire LCD assembly from a manufacturer. HP does not make the LCD -- Samsung, or LG, or Hitachi do (different people on the same notebook get different LCD's).

So, you may be able to find a full LCD assembly on E-bay and as your LCD is not damaged swap it out.

Otherwise you are talking about a very expensive fix for only cosmetic purposes.

Good luck.
