Beware of Registry Patrol

Apr 12, 2006 1:53AM PDT

I purchased this on line (unlock key) and they offered a free spyware program.

The program also had a glitch and did not work properly.

After two weeks and no help e-mails I found out by them requiring payment through Pay-Pal for the key code (not actual physical item) I was screwed. A neat scham in my opinion. They got my money I got a program that don't work.

They got my $27.00, I got a program that don't work and their offer of a free bonus Spy Shield would not download.

They have an online help that hasn't been on line for two weeks.

Don't purchase this or anything from them. You are on your own!

another update

So far:
3 emails to Registry Patrol. no response
1 registered letter to Regisrty Patrol, letter was returned. RP had either moved or no longer in business
1 confidential email to my bank. I know they'll probably give me a refund, but that does not solve the problem.
2 notes to Edmonton's BBB, no response
1 email to CONTACT US at Shaw cable, no response
0 contact with the Federal Trade Commission. It's hard to get through

Regisrty Patrol is still up and running most likely taking advantage of more people. $30 might not seem like much to us, but multiply that by a few thousand and the fraud pays off.

Yes, some one is laughing but I'm not done yet

DO NOT EVEN LOOK AT REGISTRY PATROL
Nov 9, 2009 6:30PM PST

THIS IS, AS MENTIONED BY OTHERS, A SCAM. 'THE POST MEDIA NETWORK' THE COMPANY THAT OWNS REGISTRY PATROL ARE 100% IGNORANT TOO. I HAVE HAD NO UNLOCK CODE OR RESPONSE FROM ANY OF THE MANY E-MAILS I'VE SENT... AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE......PAY PAL HAVE NOT BEEN OF MUCH HELP TO DATE EITHER SO I WILL NOT BE USING THEIR 'SERVICE' AGAIN. I WILL BE CONTACTING TRADING STANDARDS IN A VAIN HOPE OF PREVENTING THEM FROM ROBBING OTHERS OF THEIR HARD EARNED CASH. PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE AND LEAVE THESE COWBOYS WELL ALONE.

Registry Patrol - follow the money
Nov 9, 2009 8:57PM PST

We all agree that Registry Patrol is a scam. Many of us have tried to contact the company (phone, email, registered mail, etc) and have met with no success. The only way to track them down is to follow the money, i.e. after Pay Pal, where does the money go? I have no idea how to do that, does anyone else? Do we call in the Canadian Mounties?!

"DISPUTES/PayPal"
Nov 9, 2009 11:05PM PST

Log onto PayPal, Sign In, & click on disputes. It worked for me. I got my money back. Others claim that it does not work. There should be an entry from RP on your PayPal Statement.

Good luck!

Registry patrol refund
Nov 10, 2009 12:37AM PST

I had the same problem as everyone else, downloaded the program then got an unlock code that didn't work, couldn't get in touch with anyone from the company etc. Then I contacted paypal and began the dispute process and much to my surprise within 2-3 weeks the money was refunded. I was glad I used paypal.

PayPal - No software refunds for "malfunctioning software"
Nov 10, 2009 3:48AM PST

I registered a dispute with PayPal. The stated that they do not get involved in disputes involving software that didn't perform properly, and sent me their user agreement. I pointed out that their user agreement also did not allow sellers to engage in fraudulent activity, but that didn't seem to make a difference to them. I cancelled my PayPal account and will figure out a way to live life with them!

That was several months ago. Perhaps PayPal's approach to this sort of thing has changed.

clarification
Nov 10, 2009 5:06AM PST

I probably should have stated that initially I did not receive the code then paypal stepped in and Registry Patrol sent me a code which did not work. It was then that I moved into the final step with paypal for a dispute. But all in all it was about 3 weeks.

No luck

I registered three disputes. called them didn't get anywhere. not interested.

Lets face it, they are making money.

Good point

You bring up a good point. Now that I recall. I entered only my CC number when purchasing. Then when my bill came through it came out as PayPal. I DID NOT doing anything via PayPal. My PayPal expired years ago. So, someone or something was smart enough to transfer my CC card over to PayPal. There's obviously more to this sneakyness than we're all aware. They're dogging bullets and I'll bet they're reading these forum threads (posts)

Followup from BBB

Below are the results of what I heard back from the BBB
I may be worn, but in my opinion they (BBB) did virtually next to nothing to help us. Needless to say I told them that this "Racket" is still carrying on , but they don't seemd to concerned. Even when I used the term FRAUD, it didn't seem to fizz them. I'm not after my $40.00 refund so much is that I want to see these people shut down..
It seems in government no one really gives a damn.

As follows:

Complaint ID#: 1631357

Has anyone contacted to RCMP?

This is a fraud and frauds are handled by the law and this is a federal case because it involves people coast to coast and internationally..

I'll do my share today but I want everyone else that's involved to also contact the RCMP.
The fact that each of us was taken for $40 is one thing but this guy is just down to a server in the basement still taking in money and has the impression he can't be touched. The BBB is a useless expense of the government.

If anyone of you folks took the time to complain on this forum, then take the real time to contact the RCMP.
Let's see if OUR system; our laws and our courts will work for us as designed. But we have to do our share as well.

Please have the cahoonas to do so and post here that you did

RCMP to Phone Busters

I contacted the RCMP and they redirected me to what they call Phone Busters. They said either them or my local police. I'm a little confused. Registry Patrol is from Edmonton Alberta. I contacted the Alberta RCMP. They recommended my local police force.
But, have you noticed that any agency we contact that they just pass the buck onto another angency. No one seems to take ownership.

I'll be submitting all the information to Phone Busters since they said they will take care of.

Anyone that comes on here to complain is one thing. Are those same people doing anything to assist shutting down Registry Patrol?

Has anyone tried the FTC route?
Dec 17, 2009 9:10PM PST

I actually got my money back after a LONG hassle last year, but still keep track of this thread because I hope to see both RP and PayPal's support for them end.

Has anyone thought about trying to contact the Federal Trade Commission? This whole situation is international consumer fraud that is indirectly supported by PayPal.

Beware -Regitry Patrol
Dec 17, 2009 11:34AM PST

`I hate to admit it but the same thing happened to me. All I got was a program that does not start, a couple of form letter replys and advice to visit a site to obtain the key that does not even exist. .. I would hope Pay Pal dumps this company. .. My advice is .. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT ... unless you enjoy being ripped off by a foriegn company. I'm out the cash and you probably will be too.

Paypal helped me get refund
Dec 30, 2009 12:21AM PST

I too have fallen for the registry patrol scam. I got a refund.
Here is my story. I ordered it with mastercard. The payment went thru Paypal. The software would not download, I think my spybot flagged malware. So I removed any remnants of the program. Now I'm mad. I emailed RP demanding a refund. Then I researched RP and found this thread about all the horror stories. So I called Paypal. They said to open a Paypal account and file a dispute, which I did. I got a confirmation of refund thru Paypal within 24 hours. DO A DISPUTE THRU PAYPAL. I checked "product was not offered as advertised" or similar, and I added comment that the software contained malware. Paypal contacted RP and RP agreed to refund. Try it...Paypal will settle disputes concerning software purchases, at least RP. Good luck to all.

I'm in same position as BRRRR1. I downloaded the free Registry Patrol then signed up for the full version for $39.95 USD. When I downloaded the full version my Spyware programme detected Adware.eZula as a medium risk and zapped it. After that I couldn't download their full programme. I have e-mailed them they gave me a link to unlock the software but still with no result. Help!

5 Years!!!!!!!!
Feb 22, 2010 4:55AM PST

This scam has been running now for at least 5 years.
Everyone tells the same, or similar stories.
In this time Registry Patrol must have conned people out of a
fortune.

How is this not illegal?

Is it just people who are relatively computer naive who are foolish enough to sign up for this?
(I readily admit that I was when I signed up!)

Does anybody on here know if there is some agency or authority to complain to?

Are Registry Patrol just going to carry on stealing innocent peoples money for ever?

I find this most Bizzare!

onmibus

onmibus. I think what really grinds MY gears is the fact that I have called almost every enforcement agency I can think of. Most have no time or they tend not to be the right people to do the job.
haha, maybe this is the perfect opportunity for a few of us to start a scam (kidding of course) but face it, everyone else is getting away with the crime. I honestly swear that the law is on the side of the criminal. I don't belive there is any official website or people that give two hoots about this issue

Registry Patrol/Post Media Network IS/ARE ABSOLUTE RIP-OFFS!
Mar 8, 2010 1:41PM PST

After having read nearly all of the complaints concerning the thing called "Registry Patrol" and its affiliations, I HAD to say something as well.

I am on Basic Monthly Social Security and whenever I order something either on or off- line, it HAS to be something I feel is worth my efforts. So, I figured this "Registry Patrol" would, indeed, be worth my efforts.

BUT ALAS --- as also several other companies during the past several years, this "Registry Patrol" and "Post Media Network" are some people who find ecstasies in stealing money and not delivering what has been ordered. THEN, when you send them e-mails or call their telepphone numbers, you either get no response via e-mail or via telephone, you get a recording - leave appropriate call-back info, but, you get zilch.

My last e-mail informed them that I will wait until this coming Friday (the 12th of March - this year) and, if they refuse to respond, I shall then contact the authorities and after I do that, those authorities do a full and complete investigation turning the results of the investigation over to the United States FBI, and, the FBI applies a label to the Investigation Report facsimile to "Online Fraud Company" --- that is a WONDERFUL name, I'd say.

I suppose that THAT IS what they desire?

Anyone wanting to know which "authorities" I communicate with in these types of rip-offs, let me know --- I don't know if you can e-mail me, but there has to be a way to communicate with me.

Thanks for reading me.

REGISTRY PATROL V.7
Mar 22, 2010 11:15PM PDT

I purchased this software to clear up a problem with U32Prod.DLL that causes interuption to my games, etc. Anyway the software downloaded but will not open or operate. I did exactly as told three times and it still will not open. It just keeps wanting me to purchase again and again.

I have emailed support for this product and no response. I have emailed Administration for refund and no response.

This program is absolutely no help.

registry patrol i managed to get refund
Apr 3, 2010 11:34PM PDT

I only discovered this forum after i got pulled in to this scam like everyone else on here, you can get your money back if you are prepared to send out couple of letters, heres what happened to me
I made telelphone call to my credit card company insisting that there were no signs or warning given that my payment was being put through paypal, this is what these scammers rely on as the credit company says we cant recover your money because the payment was not made directly to the company the product was purchased from.
I wrote to paypal in Luxembourg explaning the situation and included a ref from this site, paypal were vey quick to investigate my complaint, with in 2 weeks i have recovered my $39.95, once again I like to thank Paypal for doing the right thing for the public, please write to paypal may then paypal will expel this company from this method of payment
good luck
