Question

better value?

Which do you think is better value

this sony fit 15 at £450-

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/laptops/sony-fit-15-svf1521p2ew-15-6-touchscreen-laptop-white-21350486-pdt.html

or this apple mac air at £650-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-MD760B-MacBook-1-3GHz-Graphic/dp/B00DCR3SP2/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1404137698&sr=8-11&keywords=laptop

The laptop wouldnt be used strenuously for multitasking, storage, etc, but i do however want to get a good several years out of it so do you think the mac air would be worth the extra investment?

Any guidance would be much appreciated

Answer
Given the very different experiences on either

Each one has it's own edge. You lead with the old Windows Apple debate which there is only one answer. It's up to you to decide as no one has ever gave a winning case for either.

Since my work needs a Windows machine, the choice for me is clear. How about you?

which would be easier to get along with

well its actually for my old man where money is no issue however there is no point in spending more money than is necessary.

Because he is not the most tech savvy in the world i would have thought that the apple software would suit him better. On the other hand i have never used windows 8 so which do you think would be easier for him to get along with?

Thanks for your help Bob

About Windows 8

Add CLASSIC SHELL to get them a more familiar start button, menu and such.

I use both Windows and Apple and can't see any clear advantage EXCEPT when it comes to apps. That is, if I want Final Cut Pro then I get on the Apple. When I need to do my work I'm on my Windows machine.

To make matters more fun when I want to toy with the NSA I boot up my laptop with the TAILS OS noted at http://lifehacker.com/5916551/browse-like-bond-use-any-computer-without-leaving-a-trace-with-tails

I know that this may not help but to me it's about the tool for the job.
