Best Wireless Router??

Mar 7, 2005 10:46PM PST

Wondering if anyone has opinions/suggestions on wireless routers. My main concerns are quality of signal/distance, speed, and security. I have 1.5mb at my wall and want to transfer as much as possible to my devices. The router needs to have 128-bit encryption.

I have a Trendnet wireless laptop card TEW-421PC and my roomate runs a D-Link card so compatibility is also a concern. Any suggestions on manufacturers/models for a wireless router?

Thanks!

Sonicwall and Cisco would be the best.

If you didn't mean the "best" then Dlink and Linksys are good for the consumers.

Linksys Question
Mar 9, 2005 12:04AM PST

In a review of the Linksys WRT54G wireless router, a person mentioned that because it operates at 2.4ghz frequency they would lose the wireless internet connection for a second when some one would answer there cordless house phone that operated on 2.4ghz. Any truth to that? Any suggestions for good routers that operate at different frequencies?

Thanks!!

Great idea, but ...

Look at the consumer offerings. If you did find that 5.8GHz Wifi product, no one would have matching client hardware.

And I had to toss only one 2.4GHz handset out of the house here. The others don't interfere. You may also find that changing the RF channel on the WAP to be enough to get around such as well as other neighborhood WAPs.
