I think most would think that copying a file carries some risk but in over 2 decades this has never been a concern of mine since a file copy does just that. It moves/copies a file from one place to another.
Since the file is never opened with its corresponding application or "run" then the risk is about as low as it gets.
Once I have the files on a memory stick or CD I can scan it with the usual antivirus and such.
I like to ask if I can save my files on an old PC with
history of a Trojan. This pc has Symantec Anti virus running on it, and about a
couple of times the scan found a Trojan. Now I wonder if I can safely transfer
my files to a newer pc while I upgrade this one. And if I can do this, then what
precautions should I take before transferring files?
