pci-express 2.0 cards work in v1.0 slots so they'll work in your PC.
keep in mind you'll need to replace the power supply since HP's 460w unit is too small for the cards you mention. a 550W unit is recommended for the GTX 280/285 while a 680W unit is recommended for the GTX 295. GTX cards are 10.5" long so make sure one will fit your case.
I need a new video card + any necessary accesories for under $500. The problem is my HP Pavilion Elite PC doesn't support PCI Express 2.0. :/
I don't want to replace the motherboard and buy a new license, but I want a top-of-the-line gaming card. Please include any costs for (if needed) any new parts. I would like something along the lines of a NVIDIA GTX 280-295, or something around that area. If it is a little less/more it is fine. I want smooth graphics and the sharpest clarity possible.
Any suggestions? Thanks
