Best system for the money?

Aug 16, 2005 10:57AM PDT

Alright, I move into my new off campus apartment this week and am looking to invest in a new stereo system. I'd like to pick up a receiver, dvd changer, and possibly a set of surround sound speakers with a powered sub (those could wait though because we already have enough speakers to upset the neighbors, but surround sound would be nice). I want something powerful enough to have a nice size party with, sturdy enough to be able to handle a few years of college life, but fairly inexpensive. I have about $400 to play with. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of what I need, but that is a lot of money to throw down on something so I just wanna be sure. Any help with brands, models, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Panasonic HT-SC700. A 700 wat 5.1 surround sound system with pretty good sound. Its really cheap nowadays I would suggest picking one up.

Sorry about that its the SC-HT700 Panasonic. It sounds like everything you want. Plus I have seen them for less than $200, great deal, especially when it has to go through university.
