Best SXSW Blog-side Coverage

Mar 15, 2006 12:02PM PST

The best coverage I found of SXSW out there for those who couldn't attend (like me) was Luke's over at Fucntioning Form. I can't wait to hear Tom's impression, but know that the show won't support as MUCH as I'd want to hear.

That's really good note-taking. Both panelists were great. Mark (Windows) got a little frustrated by some of the remarks about Windows, but did a good job of explaining why Microsoft did things the way they did. He was trying to defend against the idea that Microsoft 'copied' features from OSX. He said sometimes things just are agood idea, and not copying. Convergent evolution. Cordell was very well spoken too and had good anecdotes about the development of the OS. Nobody wanted it to be a total departure from OS9 but Steve J. recognised the need.

I would have very much enjoyed hearing that panel in person but the blog note-taking, as you say, was great. Really interesting read.

I loved this part:

Apple: The login screen shakes if you enter an incorrect name but has no error message or text.

Microsoft: "They're Mac users they'll blame themselves."

LOL!! True... true...
