The last time I checked the battery in use is the usual 300 cycle rating. NO MAKER is giving us any more than that. You may find some with a few more minutes or run time but the "life" appears to alway be the usual 300 cycles. We can dismiss any idea of a long life battery and must plan ahead to replace the battery when it wears out.
"Easy to transfer to PC and play on TVs"
All the units I see at the stores are easy for me to do this. You may want to refine this requirement.
There are no great internal microphones. Be sure that any unit that makes the list have the external input.
I am looking for a camera which I can use mainly for recording classes for teacher training purposes. I will be working in Africa so I guess HD is not worth it. Also I have a laptop and a 500 GB hard drive so I would like to word with a HDD camera with a 30 GB or so hard drive. My main desires are:
Long lasting battery
Easy to transfer to PC and play on TVs
External mic jack or excellent mic. I need to pick up what the teacher is saying very clearly.
Good editing software
and of course as high quality picture as possible.
I'd like to get all this with a decent mic, tripod and case for under 600 pounds.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
